Dr. Maung completed her four year dental training at the University of Southern California where she received the highest distinction in basic science for her excellence in biology.  She then completed her three year orthodontic residency with honors at the prestigious orthodontic program at USC.  Since graduating from USC, Dr. Maung has treated hundreds of patients with multicultural backgrounds, mindful that the teeth positions to create a perfect smile are unique to the individual.


Dr. Maung has demonstrated excellence in the orthodontic field.  Dr. Maung also serves as the Director of Orthodontics for a national children’s non-profit organization where USC and UCLA dental students and orthodontic residents do rotations for their training. 


Dr. Maung has also won recognition in her orthodontic research through highly respected publications in the dental field.  She also received the top honors for her research from the American Dental Association (ADA).  It was this research that was the basis of her thesis  identifying the genes involved in tooth movement.
